Mercurial Issues - Troubleshooting

May 11, 2011 at 11:37 PM

If you try to do TortoiseHG - Synchronize - Pull or HG Clone, you may get an error "502 Bad Gateway" or "Chunk Size Exceeds EOF" or "Stream ended unexpectedly", please use the following workaround:

Create a new folder and run TortoiseHG - Clone.

In the "Clone" dialog in Options, make sure the "Use uncompressed transfer" checkbox is checked.

For first time a had "Stream ended unexpectedly".

After I check "Use uncompressed transfer", I've got another error: "abort: Unexpected response from remote server: empty string".

TortoiseHg 2.0.5, Windows 7.

Any ideas?

Codeplex has been notified, but it may be up to us to fix it.

We can always use a another repository, let codeplex clear it out, and
publish back up.

Personally, these issues we have are about having all the maps (and
large groups of binaries) in there, people moving and deleting large
sets of binaries, which is not what Source control is about. The
server can't compress these large binaries, so we had to go to
uncompressed (probably the same issue we had with svn bridge in
codeplex). As for corrupted repositories... they happen.

can you
hg verify -R <PATH TO REPOSITORY>

No, but I can create an older version by doing HG clone to revision a8c67ffea2cd

(10th May 2011). The revisions a8c67ffea2cd and older don't have the mercurial issue (HG clone works without 'use uncompressed transfer)
